  1. JA Stuff that Bus - NEW 2008   Backpacks & school supplies are collected and then are distributed to school counselors who hand out the backpacks to families in need.
  2. JA Coat Drive / Keeping Kids Warm - Each year the Junior Auxiliary sponsors a coat drive for children in need.  A box is set up at local dry cleaners and at each school in the county where students deliver coats that they have out grown or that they no longer have any use for.  These coats are then taken to local dry cleaners that graciously dry clean them for no charge.  The guidance counselors then inform a local J.A. member about children who might benefit from this drive, giving the member the size and gender of the child.  If no coat is available, then we will purchase one for the child.  A coat is then delivered to the school for the child.  Last year we gave away over 200 coats.  This year we are off to a good start with 75 people already benefiting from our drive.
  3. JA Suitcase Drive - The Junior Auxiliary sponsors a suitcase drive for foster children in need. Last year we gave away over 100 suitcase.
  4. JA Book Spring Fling -  NEW 2009
  5. JA Child Welfare - Junior Auxiliarys primary consideration is to the children in our county.  The Child Welfare project focuses on a family with children that may need physical, emotional or financial support.  The members are able to help in many ways.  We cook meals, tutor a child if needed, deliver baskets with household items, and are there for the family if any need arises.  Both the family and the members of Junior Auxiliary benefit from this worthwhile project.
  6. JA Motivating Young Minds -  NEW 2008-09
  7. JA Community Chest - This is a project designed to help all ranges of people in the community. JA gives out gift baskets to older people of our community on a fixed income.  We gather household items from the club monthly.  We take this basket to the Summit Apartments, nursng homes & assisted living in Lewisburg.  Starting in 2007 JA is also giving out gift baskets of children books to head start daycares, preschool & place with children. (In the past these projects were called Timeless Treasures & Head Start Reading Program. They were joined together in 2007)

2007-2008 Projects

  1. JA Backpack Buddies - Each August, Junior Auxiliary of Lewisburg members begin packing their backpacks.  No, theyre not going back to school, theyre packing backpacks for local students who may need a little help getting ready for school.  After contacting local schools for supply lists, JA members go shopping, buying enough supplies to fill about 15-20 backpacks for each elementary school in the county.  During our August meeting, members set up an assembly line filling each backpack to grade level specifications.  Backpacks are then distributed to school counselors who hand out the backpacks to families in need.  In addition, JA also fills requests for backpacks from upper grades, as well as any additional requests from school counselors throughout the school year.
  4. JA Junior Ambassadors -  Junior Ambassadors is currently serving 32 3rd grade students in Marshall County.  The purpose of the program is to help students become interested in volunteering in the community.  We also focus on teaching respect and good manners.  Junior ambassadors are encouraged to become role models for their peers.  The program meets monthly after school at West Hills Elementary.  We have a variety of speakers from the community and Junior Auxiliary members who talk to the group.  These speakers address a specific lesson.  Topics covered are:  personal safety, listening skills, leadership styles, making introductions, pet etiquette, good study habits, and table manners.  We have a banquet for the student that is fully funded by Junior Auxiliary.  (this program is being updated/changed 2007-08 to a weekend program)
  6. JA Wellness Fair () - For the past several years, the Junior Auxiliary has provided the women of Marshall County with a Womens Conference every spring.  The Womens Conference provides information about health and social issues, while also offering a number of booths ranging from home décor, cosmetics, jewelry and a variety of goods. This years Women's Health Conference has been renamed: 2004 Womens Fair,  2005 renamed JAL Fitness & Health Fair & 2007 JA Community Fitness & Health Fair.
  7. JA Community Chest - This is a project designed to help all ranges of people in the community. JA Girl's Camp - The Junior Auxiliary of Lewisburg offers their popular Summer Girls Camp for young girls here in Lewisburg.  Girls are recommended by school counselors or teachers and attend free of charge.  During the three years that we have put on the camp, the thirty or so girls that have attended have enjoyed a variety of activities including swimming, sports, scrap booking, arts and crafts, yoga, beauty make-overs, music lessons, sewing and cooking instruction, various speakers, and much more.  The week-long camp is divided into themes and JA members sign up to be leaders or assistants for each day, sharing many of their own individual talents.  During the week, JA members enjoy getting to know the girls and sharing fun activities, making it a memorable experience for both members and campers.
